JOB TITLE: Trainee Conference Producer

We are currently looking for an entry-level Conference Producer to join our commercially successful team and work on a mixed portfolio of conferences. In addition to this, the successful candidate may be asked to work on client conferences. Sectors include, but are not limited to Secure Computing, Marketing, PR, Energy & Environment and Charity/Third Sector. Our products stand out in a competitive market and we are looking for candidates who will do the same.

The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate or second jobber with experience in producing commercial conferences or in a non-conference related research or sales role.  Graduates with no previous experience are welcome to apply. On-the job training will be given.

This role involves:

  • Research & Analysis – in-depth phone based research of key subject areas and hot topics
  • Speaker Acquisition - sourcing, selecting and securing the participation of high-level industry leading speakers
  • Copy Writing - sales-driven brochure, web, direct mail and email copy to drive delegate bookings
  • Portfolio Development – topic generation to deliver a forward schedule of commercially viable topics
  • Project Management – working within a cross-functional editorial and conference team and driving the project team of marketing, sponsorship and operations managers to deliver the budget and within deadlines
  • Onsite Delivery – meticulous on-site execution of conferences to exceptional standards of customer service

 Key requirements:

-   A graduate calibre candidate with excellent English written and verbal communication skills (2:1 minimum requirement)

-   Bright, enthusiastic, confident and a fast and keen learner – be prepared to be thrown in at the deep end, ready to start producing your own products from day one

-   Able to work under pressure and prepared to focus all efforts to meet deadlines

-   Able to multi-task and manage your time excellently

-   Entrepreneurial spirit

-   Outstanding attention to detail

PERSON SPECIFICATION

We are currently looking for a Conference Producer to join our commercially successful team and work on a mixed portfolio of conferences. In addition to this, the successful candidate may be asked to work on client conferences. Sectors include, but are not limited to, Secure Computing, Marketing, PR & the Third Sector. As an experienced conference producer you will be responsible for developing conferences across a variety of portfolios and managed events by conducting in-depth research with senior industry executives to identify content, develop programmes and work closely with the cross-functional team. Our products stand out in a competitive market and we are looking for candidates who will do the same.

Experience:

Graduate with a minimum 2:1 grade

Minimum 12 months experience producing commercial conferences

Track record in maximising profitability on events

Ability to demonstrate excellent research skills with a commercial focus

Experience of Stage 2 events a plus

Skills:

Excellent research and analytical skills

Strong telephone manner and ability to speak face-to-face with senior executives in the market

Ability to multi-task on many different projects, whilst remaining highly-organised

Excellent oral and written communication skills and strong copywriting ability

Excellent organisational skills and time assessment

Proven track record of delivering projects on time and working under pressure
